Kareen Wilson is a passionate and practicing dental hygienist for over 20 years. She has appeared on the Dr. Oz show and the WFSB 3 show “Better Connecticut” educating anyone and everyone who wants to learn about awesome oral care. Kareen is a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association, the Crest and Oral-B smile council, and is an advisory board member of the Christian Dental Society.
Kareen is also a founding board member of Bethesda Medical Mission Inc, a non-profit organization that provides compassionate medical and dental care in developing countries.
“I believe that smiles create happiness and if I can help my patients live happy and healthier lives by improving their smiles, then I have fufilled my calling one smile at a time.” Kareen’s other aspirations are long distance running, skiing, traveling and raising two amazing girls, Bryana and Kierra. She also is into anything that helps people live healthier and satisfying lives.
Erin has been in the dental field since 1997. She graduated from Tunxis Community College in 2003 and obtained her local anesthesia certification in 2006 at the University of New Haven. Erin had been a proud member of the Contemporary General Dentistry team since 2005. Erin attends monthly continuing education courses to be knowledgeable in the latest most advanced dental technologies available. Her enthusiasm for improving overall health is shared with all her clients. Erin has enjoyed participating in community oral health events such as give kids a smile day and mission of mercy throughout her dental hygiene career and will continue to be a part of local efforts to improve the oral health of the surrounding community.

Shaunte has been an employee for Contemporary General Dentistry since 1999 as a Dental Assistant and more recently Office Coordinator. She is certified in radiology, Invisalign, and the use of the CEREC that is a computer that can produce a crown in one visit. Shaunte has been fortunate to travel to different countries to practice dentistry as well as volunteer at events such as Give a Kid a smile and Mission of Mercy, which helps to serve the local community. She is also involved in a federal program that serves military troops to prepare them for deployment. Shaunte believes in continuing education and believes that each class will take Contemporary General Dentistry to the next level of Dentistry. Outside the office she is very busy with her husband and four children as well as being very active in her local ministry.
Sandy Grower is a caring Dental Assistant who has been in dentistry since 2009. She is certified in Radiation Health and Safety, Infection Control, and CPR. She has a lot of interest in volunteering with the dental community in programs like Give Kids a Smile as well as overseas with Bethesda Medical Mission which travels to Haiti to deliver much needed medical and dental care. She has enjoyed all of the continuing education in the dental field and is constantly learning how to best provide the highest care for all patients she comes in contact with.
Emilia has been working in the medical field since 2010. Initially starting in the field of Physical Therapy, she learned the in’s and out’s of medical insurance benefits. This experience has assisted her greatly in her role with us as Patient Coordinator, where she makes our patients her priority. She regularly attends meetings with the American Association of Dental Office Managers and the Connecticut State Dental Association so that she is always up on the latest information to make your dental experience better!
Outside the office she enjoys hiking, running, spending time with her family and being a very active member of her congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
